Where do I start rearching day care options?
I live an hour away from where I work now; my husband works around 30 minutes from home. This is a huge area to start calling all the day-cares in the phone book with questions. What should I look for? Is there some sort of professional organization? I care less about the money and more about the environment and how much attention my little one will recieve. Suggestions? Ooops. I meant RESEARCHING

- I'm not sure what state you're in but I live in New York and on our State website there is a list of all the certified daycare centers and also helps show you what to look for and what the regulations are so that when youre visiting centers you know if they're "by the books" or not.
My husband and I are in the same exact commute situation that you have, we chose a daycare that's 45 minutes from me, but only like 10 minutes from him which is nice in an emergency situation. I also chose this one so that if we're not able to get there fast for whatever reason, my family is close.
Good luck!
- I started looking at about 12 weeks because there weren't very many places in my area that take newborns. This is my first child and I'm an only child/youngest in my family so I had no clue what I was looking for. Ultimately it helped us to go to all the places on our list and just spend some time walking around at each. You'll get a feel for how happy the kids are and if you're lucky a parent will arrive while you're there and you can talk to them for a minute or two. What it all boils down to is that you'll know when you find a place you're happy with. Good luck!
