child care post

How is volunteering at a daycare community service?

I volunteered at a daycare for a community service project, but now I'm having a hard time coming up with reasons why this promotes the 'common good' of the community. The daycare runs on tuition, and teaches kids basics like numbers, letters, etc. Anyone have any ideas?

  1. DId you get paid? Did you not take an allotted amount of time out of your schedule to assist the day care in specific activities? Were you not involved in some of the educational and recreational enrichment activities that the daycare provided? You donated your time to teachers, etc in a field that needs a lot of care and help (education). Cheers

  2. Well helping with Child Development is totally community service. By helping children build the basic skills they need to further themselves once they reach formal education is very important.

By helping a teacher give each child individual attention, or by planning activites that help the kids better grasp the subjects you are assisting your community.

  3. The children - and their parents - are a part of the COMMUNITY.

The daycare center makes it possible for the parents to work, and pay taxes, which contributes to THE COMMUNITY.

Get your head out of your ass.

    You live in a community.

    Stop being so selfish.

  4. I worked at Day Care for 6yrs & when we had young Teens who volunteered their services it was so great this does promote good service to the community because 1st the children are in a safe enviroment 2nd they are learning new things 3rd it teaches the children to become socialable I hope this helps

  5. Studies show the more amount of care and affection a child receives, the more likely they are to succeed.

You are doing exactly that, you are generously sacrificing time out of your busy schedule to enhance and enrich the skills of young kids, and these kids and the future generation of what is the to make up America.
