My church desires to start a Child Development Center in our church. Can we open without a license?
We need to open a child day care as soon as possible. Since it is a church child development center, do we need to be licensed before opening? Please answer as soon as possible

- YES -- you cannot open a day care center without a license. If someone reports you, the government can close you down and slap you with a fee for operating without a license.
Depending on some states such as VA, in-home daycares can operate without a license if they are only taking care of 5 kids or less.
But this is in a church and not an in-home daycare, so you better check if you can be allowed to operate without a license if you only have a few kids initially under your care. Then continue the process of getting a license for you day care cente
