child care post

Do you have to pay for child care during times the nursery is closed-UK?

My toddler goes to nursery 2 days a week at a cost of £76 his nursery charged me this when the nursery was closed over christmas and plan to charge me (and other parents) for the week that the nursery is closed for easter. Is this normal procedure? We also have to pay regardless of bank holiday's and closures for staff training. Ok thanks, just wanted to make sure we're not getting ripped off. It just seems unfair that we have to pay when they can't provide the service.

  1. It is normal practice.

  2. Same here in the US. You can contest it to the board at the school if you'd like, but it's just policy.

  3. That's the same at my daughters nursery. I had to work some of the days they were closed for christmas. It was really annoying having to pay them AND find alternative childcare.

    It just doesn't seem fair.
