How can I start a day care center in virginia?
I have worked in a few day care centers, and they are not exactly what I would want if I were a parent for my children. So I figured that I can try to change that and give back to my community. I am currently out of the child care profession and I want to get back in. My dream is to own a day care center, I know that they do not make a lot of money I am not doing it for that reason, I just love the smiles on the childrens faces when they saw me every morning. I would like to know what are the start up costs are as I do not have very much money, How much supplies are, if I could get a grant and if they are actually possible, and if I need a license. I think a prayer is what I need. Haha. Thankyou everyone for your answers.

- You could do it in your home for a lot cheaper. In VA, you are allowed to sit five kids that are not related to you (and any number of relatives). All you'd have to do is advertise.

Advertise is NOT all you have to do. You must apply for a license, possibly apply for a tax permit and pay taxes (depending on the size of your day care), and make sure you are located in an area that allows (is zoned for) day cares.
