child care post

Child Care center for children with disabilities.?

I have worked with children that are disable for a varied of reasons. I wanted to open up my own child care center for these children to give respite time for the parents. I live in Virginia about 60 miles west of Washington, DC. Of course this would be a non-profit business. Can anyone help me get started. Thank you.

  1. I dont know how to start a business but from a mom's point of view who has a son with autism

Start with college graduates that want hands on training...like speech, ot, and pt.

Create a schedule that would open from 6:30am to 6:30pm

Join online and your town's support group and try to figure out what the cost would be for one on one and how much the salary would be and the fee would be.

Join PTA's as well as local agencies that guide parents...

This is a great Idea... Im currently paying 10 an hour for someone to get my son off the bus and be with him at home till I get there at 5:30pm

She is a Senior in HS. so far its working out...but a day care center would be better...

  2. Check with your state government -Health Services for one- there may be agencies which provide those services and there may be state and federal regulations which you would have to abide by for that particular type of center.
