child care post

What do you put into a childcare contract?

This is a question for the childcare providers out there...What do you put into a childcare contract between yourself (the childcare prvider) and the parent of the child you are watching? What are some of the things that should be included in this?

  1. well how many hours per week the child will be cared for. the amount of pay, over hours fees if any, meals included, transportation, rules expected of child u are watching, discipline of child u are watching, medical procedures, things like that

  2. I would put the following:

Available hrs- the earliest time that the child can arrive, the latest time a child can stay- this is a really big problem in home day cares since there isn't an official "closing time"

Which meals are/aren't offered and be sure to ask about food allergies

Rules of the child care center and what type of discipline will be enforced when rules are broken

I would require an extra outfit for younger children either be brought daily or left at the center for accidents

Any necessary medical information- allergies to insects, plants, etc, asthma, etc

Payment information- how much per day/week, how much for parents arriving after closing time, bounced check fees, late payment fees, if their child will be full time note and you charge them by the week- state whether or not they will pay for the full week if their child is out sick a day or two

If you will have school aged children- state their method of transportation to and from school- will you be doing it or do they need to ride a school bus

Make sure to get cell and work numbers for emergencies

You'll need a sick policy- when will it be mandatory for the child to be picked up- fever, throwing up, etc

State whether or not it's ok or what's ok for them to bring from home- toys, movies, games, etc- some child care centers prefer that they not bring items from home to prevent them getting broken or lost

That's all I can think of, hope this helps! :-)
