When should I start preschool for my daughter? She is turning 4 in April and I'm wondering about preschool. She has never been in any kind of day care & hasn't been exposed to babysitting much. I'm worried about putting her in preschool, but don't want her to be behind when school starts. I also know she could use the social interaction but am afraid preschool will be too much for her since she isn't use to being away from home that much. Any thoughts/suggestions from other mothers of preschoolers? She is 3, but will turn 4 in April 2008. There seems to be some confusion.
How easy is the transition from Waldorf preschool to public elementary school? I am planning on sending my child to a Waldorf preschool. What to expect at a special needs & regular preschool program during an interview? I have a job interview in a few days at an integrated preschool. I am going to speak with the school principal for a few minutes, then they are going to let me observe the classroom. They want to know if I would be able to handle a special education preschool as well as the regular preschool. What type of questions would a principal ask ,or what type of questions should I ask of them? This is for a paraprofessional position. Not teaching.

What are the costs of preschool in your area? I'm not talking about daycare, but preschool. I want my daughter to go to preschool this fall, before she starts kindergarten next year. I really think it will help her out and get her ready for kindergarten. Preschool is only a couple of hours a day, usually 2 or 3 days out of the week. Well, my husband is starting to freak out that it's just going to cost too much for her to go. I think he's being ridiculous, it's not like we're paying for college at age four!
Does anyone know if there is financial aid available for preschool? I'm planning for my daughter to start preschool this fall, but unfortunately there are no quality public schools in the Los Angeles area. My only choice, if I want her to actually learn something, is to send her to a private school, but I can't afford one. Does anyone know if there are any programs in the State of California, or even any Federal programs, that provide financial assistance for private schools at the preschool level?
How to become a preschool or kindergarten teacher? I am 9 electives away from receiving my bachelors degree in psychology. I want to know if I select early childhood education courses as my electives (inaddition too, other child development courses that I have already taken) will I be qualified to teach preschool or kindergarten? Furthermore, is there some kind of exam I will have to take? Thanks
At what age do you start a kid in preschool? I have a 3 year old and she will be 4 in decemeber. A lot of people are telling me to put her in preschool this year but I really think she can wait until next year. She knows her ABCs,colors, shapes, and can count to 15 so its not like she is going to be behind. I just don't want her to get tired of school at a young age. I forgot to say she is in dance and a 12 kid play group at the park so she does play with other kids.
How do you start a preschool? I am looking into starting a preschool. NOT A DAY CARE. If anyone has any information on how to do it, or owns their own preschool, please let me know. I am looking for information like, regulations, insurance policies, start up costs, and also a good rate to charge.

How do I find a preschool where the parent can stay? I've heard about preschool programs for young children where the parents are instructed to stay the entire time and when the kids are a bit older (3 or so), they gradually leave so finally the kids are by themselves. Does anyone know where I can find a program like this? I live in the Northern VA area. My son is 2 and I will let go when the time is right. I'm asking for a place where the change is gradual. I"m not taking my son and dropping him off to be traumatized.

What are the qualifications for a child going into preschool? I have a 2 and a half year old and would like to be able to enroll her in preschool by this fall. Besides potty training, I would like to know what a child needs to be able to do to get into most preschools. She is very social and I think she would benefit from being around other children. I can't afford day care, I'm a stay at home mom, and I know of some schools in my area that accept 3 yr olds but I can't find any links to figure out what they need to do or even how to enroll. It's not the money for preschool that I have worried about just the developement.
What to do with a loft in a Montessori preschool classroom? It is my first year teaching preschool. I have a Montessori 3-5 preschool classroom witha loft that drives me nuts. Right now I have it be a "quiet area" but the kids go up there and do everything but be quiet. They take all the books out. Hide under the table. Stack the bean bags on top of each other. One suggestion I got is turn it into a cultural area. Does anyone have any other suggestions? I need an idea that is Montessori based and will give the classroom order and structure.

How would I file a complaint against a teacher working for a State Preschool Program? The teacher works for Head Start a state run program in Indianapolis, IN (Marion County). I looked on the licensing board, but teachers are not listed. I have filed a complaint with the agency, but they are really not interested. This teacher is yanking, grabbing and yelling at preschool children ages 3-5. I personally witnessed her yelling and yanking my 3 year old son and I want to notify the proper authorities.
